Braxton Goes to the ER!

Last Friday night was a very scary night at the Warren house! I was on the treadmill trying to get rid of this fat gut for our vacation and the boys decided to come down and tattle on each other. I told them to go back upstairs with daddy because I was working out. Well, Dave came down to get them and told them to go back upstairs as well. Dave continued to stand behind me talking (the treadmill faces the wall and the door is behind the treadmill)and Braxton decided to start playing with a ball he found. Well his ball bounced over behind the treadmill and when he went to get it he pushed it under the treadmill. He reached in to get it before Dave could stop him and all I heard was screaming from Dave and Braxton. I quickly grabbed the key that stops the treadmill and jumped off and Dave lifted the treadmill up so it was off of Braxton. I freaked out!!! I was so scared I just grabbed Braxton and held him so tight and started crying. He was in shock and was shaking and not answering us and was starting to get lathargic. He also was not moving his arm. So we took him to the emergency room. After cleaning up his abrasions and doing some xrays we found out that nothing was broken and that his wounds would just have to heal on their own. He ended up with really bad burn to his arm, his ear, and a few on his back. We were really lucky!! Braxton was such a trooper at the hospital. He did so good that the doctor gave him a lizard beanie baby. He thought it was so cool and he also left there with 14 stickers. Needless to say we are all doing well and the door to the treadmill gets locked. He is doing good and his wounds are healing nicely. He tells everyone "me ball under treadmill, treadmill eat me!" So learn from our mistake, treadmills should be kept far away from children!!! I also think someone is telling me I shouldn't work out! ha ha That Darn RED HAIR!! Braxton has been to the ER 3 times in his short 2.5 years, just to let you know Reece has not ever been to the ER in his 5 years of life. I sure hope this pattern doesn't continue for Braxton, or I will surely be gray by 40!!!

Kristi, So sorry to hear about Braxton. The stress and fear you must have felt! He is so lucky. We have heard our share of treadmill eating accidents and they can be devastating. Give that little guy and hug and kiss from us! Love, Kelly and Nash
